Health Voices for Equitable Phaseout of Fossil Fuels

Join us for a timely hybrid event co-hosted by the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environmentsm Doctors for the Environment Australia, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, African Bioethics Network, Health Systems Global, Médicos pelo Clima Brasil at the WHO Health Pavilion at COP30 in Brazil.

This event will explore the health community’s critical role in addressing the root causes of the climate crisis—chiefly, the fossil fuel industry, which is responsible for over 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions and significant harm to human and planetary health. Taking placed in-person at the WHO Health Pavilion at COP30 in Brazil and virtually, global health leaders will highlight how fossil fuel industry influence undermines public health and policy. The panel will showcase how healthcare professionals are supporting global movements for a just transition away from fossil fuels, including advocacy for frameworks like the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to advance fossil-free policies that center equity, ethics, and justice.

For virtual participants a zoom link will be provided closer to the event date. For in-person attendance, the event will be held at the WHO Health Pavilion in the Blue Zone at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
